Within the past few months, Uva province and its surrounding became a victim of many wild fires around many mountain ranges. As a result, LUSH-Live and Let Live was a project initiated with the intention of contributing to the District Project- One Million Trees. The idea was generated by the President, Rtr. Samadith and the fellow members contributed it with the ideas. Rtr. Charutha was appointed as the Project Chair and the duties were assigned to the rest of the Board Members. First, we visited the Forestry Department and inquired about the situation of wild fires and the strategies they have implemented about this issue. As a result, a site visit was arranged to Bambaragala Mountain Range to inspect the surrounding and the soil type of the mountain range. It was examined that due to the sudden rains, the soil was not perfect for the tree planting. As a suggestion from the forestry department, November was decided to execute the project as November is a month with continuous rain. A

Sandhara V.2.0

Sandhara is a project organized in order to uplift the living of the people who are around Dayabara Junction, Welimada. Since the number of participants showed a high rate in Sandhara V.1.0 which was held in Badulla during the month of November, the organizers contacted The Rotaract Club of Badulla in order to get the needed manpower and supports. Therefore as a result the club members were split up on the two days and participated for the project.

International Literacy Day Celebration

The members of the club decided to spend the morning at the  Urzula Children Home as the majority of the children were only speeking in Tamil. Therefore, to teach them and make them speak in English, we visited the home. All club members got together and visited and one of the club members got the chance to celebrate her birthday with the kids.

6th Installation Ceremony of RACBadulla

Holding the 6th installation ceremony was a key topic which was discussed in many of the general meetings. The date was fixed by the Rotaract District 3220 along with the Visit to the Up country as the 25th of August 2018 and a special Board Meeting was taken to discuss the roles and responsibilities. As the first step, a suitable venue was selected which matched with our budget. Then the invitations were sent through the council to all the Rotaract clubs of Sri Lanka and through the facebook page of RACBadulla. Hall arrangements and food & beverage, lighting and sounds, table decorations, presentations and video, tokens of appreciation, photography, entertainment, compering, badges for the club members were the other key areas we focused on in order to make the project successful. All members of the club gathered on the 24th and discussed the final steps and how the project should be executed. In the afternoon of 25th, all members gathered to the event venue and completed the hall

BOD Tea Party

It was an idea of one of the club members to gain an exposure on understanding of the club members more thoroughly and have interesting conversations on each members’ opinions on variety of topics. It was planned to begin the project at 1.00 pm with the participation of all club members.

Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams is a project that is planned along with the Rotary clubs of Kelaniya and Badulla with the support from Sleeping Children Around the World, to uplift the well-being of school children in 63 schools by delivering clothes, shoes and mosquito nets.

Cuddles

It was mainly based on an idea of one of our club members to donate the clothes and stationery items to Udaya home and St. Ursala’s Home which will create hope for the children who are without parents to bring happiness and encouragement on their education and skills. Donations were received from Future Lanka Foundation Inc. consist with Sri Lankans who currently live in Australia. The date which was fixed according to the donors and the project was carried out successfully.
