Lack of adequate attention towards senior citizens is a grave concern in our society today. Faced with challenging economic situations, competitive working cultures as well as the never ending race to ensure the survival of the fittest, family responsibilities and values are diminishing at an alarming rate. As a result, elders who struggle to make a contribution towards the economy are considered a burden by many of their children and relatives who ignore the responsibility of caring for them at this late stage of their lives. Then we, Rotaract Club of Badulla initiated this Suwani project to give our contribution to fulfill the needs of the elder community in Uva province and to improve the basic infrastructure facilities in the elder's home and provide necessary medicines to them. Cannan Harvest Children’s Home Visit

 “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men”. The Cannan Harvest Children’s home – Badulla is home for children at the age of 3-20 who doesn’t have their parents or any other relations due to legal problems. Upon a request made by the sister in charge about the requirement of cloths and other essentials, Rotaract Club of Badulla took an action in order to work their request and provided the necessary requirements along with the tea party to make children happy. Main objectives of this project were to develop better environment for children inside the house, to provide essential equipment and cloths to the children and to create positive relationship with the kids. First the project committee met the Sister in charge of the Cannon Harvest Children’s home – Badulla and discussed about their requirements. Governor’s Visit to Rotaract Club of Badulla

The Rotary District Governor of District 3220- Sri Lanka and Maldives, for the year 2019/20, Rtn.PHF Sebastian Karunakaran visited Rotary Club of Badulla and Rotaract Club of Badulla family on Sunday 04th of August 2019 at Heritage Resort Badulla. It was a great opportunity for Rotaractors to meet the District governor and communicate with him about current status and future plans of the club. It helps to build up a good public image about the club in the Rotary district 3220-Sri Lanka and Maldives. It was a well spent quality time and the governor was fully satisfied with the presentations given by the club and gave his word to support through the future club projects.  

Board of Director's Tea Party

The Board of Director's Tea Party is an annual gathering of the Rotaract Club of Badulla which is organized to build a strong relationship between newly elected board of directors for the Rotaract Year. Last year it was held at Wewessa Tea Center-Badulla and Rotaractors had a great time there. Therefore this year it was held a little far away from Badulla, at Golden Hill Tea Center- Haputhale on 24th of July 2019.  It is a Beautiful place near the Haputhale view point. Another objective of the tea party was to conduct the Photo-shoot for the Album of Annual installation ceremony. Rotaractors had a great time there snapping picture, having a fancy lunch with tea and playing games, it was truly a fun filled day which built a strong bond between them.  

Awareness Program for the interact formation in Badulla Central College- Session 02

Youth empowerment is a process where children and young people are encouraged to take charge of their lives. The second awareness program for the re-initiation of an interact club was held in 17 th of July 2019 at Badulla Central College .The aim of this awareness session is to empower the children in Badulla area to work together to build a sustainable organization which helps society. And this is a very good opportunity for them to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities. Project Objectives were to recognize and develop constructive leadership and personal integrity, to encourage and practice thoughtfulness of and helpfulness to others, to create an awareness of the importance of home and family, to build respect for the rights of others, based on recognition of the worth of each individual, and to emphasize acceptance of individual responsibility as the basis of personal success,

National Youth Model United Nations - Uva Province Workshop

The National Youth Model United Nations is a youth forum which was founded in 2016, with one vision; to provide the young people of our country an opportunity to engage and learn the art of diplomacy and conflict resolution. Over the years, it has been successful in accessing different sets of knowledge, skills and attitudes, into a platform where a Sri Lankan youth can live the experience of a diplomat, in terms of peace building and conflict resolution while also providing a platform towards learning the ideologies and mindsets of different nations and societies. Then Rotaract club of Badulla in collaboration with the Gavel Club of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka organized a workshop regarding the National Youth Model United Nations to empower the youth in Badulla District to get the experience about an international conference. School cleaning Program with interactors

Inappropriate hygiene in schools can be damage to the school’s reputation, as well as it is harmfully affects to the health and wellbeing of its students and teachers. It is important to have a regular school cleaning and waste management method to prevent those bad outcomes. In this scenario, students have the main responsibility and it is good to initiate the lessons about cleanliness from school. Because of these reasons, Rotaract club of Badulla organized a school cleaning program in Badulla Central College with the help of interactors in the school. This program was held on 12 th of July 2019, at Badulla Central College premises with the participation of students of Badulla Central College and Rotaractors of Rotaract Club of Badulla. Project Objectives were to provide good environment to the children, to build safe and quality surrounding for learning and to give an idea to the students about importance of cleaning.
