Xmas Tree-A Christmas tree made from disposed Plastic bottles

Rotaract Club of Badulla in collaboration with Catholic students Movement of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka and Buddhist Students Union of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka built a 15 foot tall Christmas tree from disposed plastic bottles, collected from the open areas of Badulla town, with the aim of sending them for recycling .This was displayed at St. Mary’s Cathedral-Badulla. The objective of this project was to create awareness about the usage and disposal of plastic daily basis, and also to create a good image about the Rotaract movement in the community, regarding peace and reconciliation and for the 50 years celebration of Rotaract movement. This was made using more than 800 plastic bottles collected from open areas of the town and from the university. And also bamboo sticks and steel wires were used for the structure. Annual Christmas Dinner-out of Rotaract Club of Badulla was held on 24th December 2019 at Capital City Hotel, Badulla kicked off at around 8.00 pm with the participation of the executive members of the club. No doubt that was the most amazing late night party in club calendar. It was a great time to exchange ideas to enhance future club activities while making that time to appreciate the hard worked Rotaractors in past 6 months. Motivations, appreciations and exciting ideas empowered club calendar by building a thick layer to the future plans. While offering a precious chance to find a good pace better, bond, and for the most exciting part was appreciating each other's conversation, the night unquestionably didn't disillusion with regard to the nourishment, refreshment and discussions, prompting an exciting night with amazing rotaractors. The social, political and natural disasters greatly affect the education sector by destroying key infrastructures, disrupting the education cycles and forcing children to drop out of school for extended period of time. Formal and informal education, including, public awareness and training are critical for promoting sustainable development and improving the capacity of the people and countries to address environmental and development issues and to create green and decent jobs and industries. Children from the North and Northeast areas of Sri Lanka are the population who has been most seriously affected by the 30 years of war. Though it is few years after the end of the war, those areas are still rural and quality education is still not developed properly, primarily for Tamil children. Several natural disasters, geography and cultural background of central hills and Uva province also have significant issues in education

The Orator 2019-Inter-School Level-Preliminary Round

"The Orator"2019 Inter-school speech competition was organized by Rotaract Club of Badulla in collaboration with Gavel Club of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka for the First time. This competition will be held on few phases. The theme of the competition was "Echo of Eco". As the second stage, the Inter-school Speech competition was held on Sunday 30th of November 2019 at A1 hall of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka at 9.00 a.m. onwards. Competitors were advised to deliver a 3 minutes prepared speech according to the theme "Echo of Eco” which means, about the environment. The competition was held in 2 sections as Grade 9, 10, 11 category and Grade 12, 13 categories 11 participants from grade 9,10,11 category and 05 participants from grade 12,13 category were got selected for the semifinal round. "Nature is not a place to visit it is home”. The nature as we know it is facing its end. And as the younger generation, let us start saving it by voicing our opinions. "The Orator" Intra university speech competition was organized by Rotaract Club of Badulla in collaboration with Gavel Club of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka for the first time. This competition is planned to hold on few phases. The theme of the competition was "Echo of Eco". As the initial stage ,the intra university speech competition was held on Sunday 23rd of November 2019 at MLT hall of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka 9.00 a.m. onwards. Competitors were advised to deliver a 3 minutes prepared speech according to the theme "Echo of Eco” which means anything about the environment. Out of 36 registered participants, 14 participants were selected for the semifinal round. The Judge board of the competition was comprised with the lecturers of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka. RAC Badulla Team to Rotary Polio Parade and Rotary Polio Parade PR campaign

Rotary Polio parade and carnival organized by the Rotary Sri Lanka was held on 26th of October 2019. The parade was consisting of Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and general public. Commenced from the Sri Lanka Foundation road and ended from Green path where the carnival was held. The parade was the final event of the Polio week celebration organized by the Rotary Sri Lanka in partnership with Ministry of Health, WHO & UNICEF, to commemorate International Polio Day (October 24th). RAC Badulla Rotaractors were there at Rotary Polio parade and carnival with a team of Rotaractors. Rotaractors of RAC Badulla walked for the cause of making awareness on Polio free Sri Lanka and world to the public. Also Rotaract Club of Badulla did a PR campaign on the polio parade and about how rotary contributed to eradicate polio, in order to do our part as rotaractors . Mathematics is a fundamental part of human thoughts and logic, and integral to attempt at understanding the world and ourselves. Mathematics provides an effective way of building mental discipline and encourages logical reasoning and mental rigor. In Sri Lankan education system mathematics hold a special place and knowledge on basic mathematics is essential. But unfortunately districts like Badulla haven't enough facilities to promote mathematic education. Due to that several students are getting below 40% average as their mathematics result, by considering this massive issue we, Rotaract Club of Badulla decided to organize a seminar especially for the O/L students who have below 40% average result for mathematics in Badulla education zone. Our main objective was to provide basic mathematical knowledge to students who have below 40% average result for mathematics and encourage them for upcoming ordinary level examination.
