The Orator-Public Speaking Workshop

"The Orator"2019 public speaking workshop for participants of The Orator-Intra University and Inter School speech competition was organized by Rotaract Club of Badulla in collaboration with Gavel club of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka for the First time. This was held on Saturday 25th of January 2020 at Uva Wellassa University Premises at 8.30 a.m. onwards. Toastmasters from Oasis Toastmasters Club Nittambuwa contributed as resource persons for the workshop in order to share a broad knowledge on public speaking. The knowledge on facts that should be considered on speech building and personality development was shared in there. Students from schools of Badulla District and undergraduates of Uva Wellassa University and members of Rotaract club of Badulla and Gavel club of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka were participated in this workshop. Wildfires are uncontrolled, rapidly spreading, and raging huge flames enhanced with wind action and firebrands that can wipe out an extensive forest or vegetation land area within minutes. Wildfires are among forces of nature that cause huge devastation to humans and environment. According to the world Fire service, more than 700 wildfires occur every year, burning down approximately 7 million acres of land and destroying more than 26,000 structures. Central and local organizations work together to control ten thousands of fires each year. The whole world spends over 5 billion dollars to fight against fires each year. That money is channeled to funding a brigade of firefighting forces including deployment of airplanes that drop water to cool the fires, drop phosphate fertilizer to slow down its spread and trucks to cut off the spread of fire. DRR Visit to Rotaract Club of Badulla

The District Rotaract Representative Rtr.PP Krishan Balaji visited Rotaract club of Badulla on 05th of January 2020 at Heritage Resort Badulla along with Assistant District Rotaract Representative Rtr.PP Afraa Mohammed, Zonal Rotaract Representative Rtr.PP Mohammed Rehan and District International Service Coordinator Rtr.Dina Ali. This was held with the general meeting of month of January. Therefore general members got a chance to interact and communicate with DRR and other district officials. This was a productive discussion and concluded successfully.

Year 2020 was a fresh start and an exciting new decade which makes us entered to a new era. Thus the New Year was blessed with multi religious praying conducted within the Uva Wellassa University premises. A special invitation was made to all four religious leaders separately. The ceremony was graced by all four religious’ leaders with their blessings by doing respective observances in order to make this year, a year of harmony, and a year which values humanity so that we could avoid all the miserable memories of the past year. A special prayer was conducted for all the souls who were departed with the Easter attack   There after a plant was gifted as a token of appreciation to all the religious leaders who were presented on the day. Our objective was to embark on the New Year with the blessings of the religious views and to build peace and reconciliation among communities.

බදුල්ල රොටරැක්ට් සමාජයේ අපි නත්තල් සැමරුවේ මෙහෙමයි!

මිනිස්සු වැඩියෙන්ම උත්සාහ කරන්නෙ අලුත් දෙයක් කරන්න. වෙනස් දෙයක් කරන්න. හොඳට උනත් නරකට උනත්. අපිත් එහෙමයි. වෙනසකට තියෙන්නෙ rotaract badulla අපි අපේ ගමන පුරාම උත්සාහ කළේ හොඳ අලුත් දෙයක්, හොඳ වෙනස් දෙයක් කරන්න. ඉතින් පහුගිය නත්තලට අපි එහෙම පුංචි දෙයක් කළා. ඒ christmas tree එක. ඔයාලට හිතෙනව ඇති christmas tree එකක මොකක්ද තියන අලුත් දේ, වෙනස් දේ කියලා. ඉවතලන ප්ලාස්ටික් වලින් තමයි ඒක නිර්මාණය කළේ කිව්වොත්....ඒකෙ වෙනසක් තියනව නේද. දැකපු ඕන කෙනෙක්ට ඒක කොච්චර ලස්සනද කියල මතක ඇති. ඒත් ඒ ලස්සන පිටිපස්සෙ ගොඩක් දෙනෙක්ගෙ උත්සාහයයි කැපවීමයි තිබුණා. ප්ලාස්ටික් බෝතල් අපේ ලඟට ආවෙ නැහැ. අපට ඒවා හොයන්න යන්න උනා. අන්න ඒකයි එතන තිබුණ ලොකුම වැදගත්කම. ඇත්තටම ඒ මොහොත වෙද්දිත් පරිසරයට හානි කරමින් තිබුණ ප්ලාස්ටික් බෝතල් තමයි අපේ rotaract family එක හොයාගෙන ආවෙ. කුණු ගාගෙන නාගෙන එයාල බෝතල් හෙව්වා. හැබැයි ඒකෙන් තව හොඳකුත් උනා. නාන්නෙ නැති සෙට් එකකට නාන්න හේතුවක් ආවා.😉 ඊට පස්සෙ ඒවගෙ ලේබල්ස් ගලවල පිරිසිදු කරන්න උනා. හිතන තරම් ඒක ලේසි වැඩක් උනේ නෑ. ලංකාවෙම තියන ගම් වලින් සමහර ලේබල්ස් අලවලා තිබුණා. ඉතින් ඒවා පිරිසිඳු ක

Xmas Tree-A Christmas tree made from disposed Plastic bottles

Rotaract Club of Badulla in collaboration with Catholic students Movement of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka and Buddhist Students Union of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka built a 15 foot tall Christmas tree from disposed plastic bottles, collected from the open areas of Badulla town, with the aim of sending them for recycling .This was displayed at St. Mary’s Cathedral-Badulla. The objective of this project was to create awareness about the usage and disposal of plastic daily basis, and also to create a good image about the Rotaract movement in the community, regarding peace and reconciliation and for the 50 years celebration of Rotaract movement. This was made using more than 800 plastic bottles collected from open areas of the town and from the university. And also bamboo sticks and steel wires were used for the structure. Annual Christmas Dinner-out of Rotaract Club of Badulla was held on 24th December 2019 at Capital City Hotel, Badulla kicked off at around 8.00 pm with the participation of the executive members of the club. No doubt that was the most amazing late night party in club calendar. It was a great time to exchange ideas to enhance future club activities while making that time to appreciate the hard worked Rotaractors in past 6 months. Motivations, appreciations and exciting ideas empowered club calendar by building a thick layer to the future plans. While offering a precious chance to find a good pace better, bond, and for the most exciting part was appreciating each other's conversation, the night unquestionably didn't disillusion with regard to the nourishment, refreshment and discussions, prompting an exciting night with amazing rotaractors. The event which continued till early hours was a great success and no doubt, would remain in the hearts of all those who were attended for ma
