A farm stay is a type of agritourism business where tourists have their accommodation at the farm more than one night and experiencing the farming environment and farming life. There are different types of farm accommodation facilities are available such as living with the farm family in their farmhouse, stay in separate cabanas, tree houses or camping at the farm. Farm Bed and Breakfast is a “unique term” for a variety of hosted accommodation in farms that includes a bed for the night and a breakfast in the morning. There are also some specific agritourism forms of accommodation such as sleeping on the hay, camping barns or bunkhouses. However, these farm accommodation services cannot be offered on a mass scale.

Place of a farm stay is a real farm or ranch and it is operated by a farmer and farm family. Nevertheless, in present concept farm stay can be planned and operated as the main function of tourism and operators of the farm and farm stay are tourism sector entrepreneurs not a farm family. However, all the features of agritourism are available in this entity and well planned and organised to give the real feel of agritourism to the tourists.

However, farm stays do not include only accommodation. It is necessary to be included experiencing farm food, farming activities, the nature of a farm, farm education and finally something to buy as a souvenir of the farm stay. Tourists like to taste farm food prepared by farm family by using traditional cooking methods such as food cooked in clay pots by using firewood in a traditional kitchen. Some tourists prefer to cook by themselves in traditional ways. It is advisable to have all these facilities in a farm stay if the owner wants to run a successful business. All these facilities are well charged because the value of these services is higher considering the tourist’s needs and wants. Don’t forget that agritourism is a niche market where a small segment of customers from within the larger marketplace who have similar demographic, interests, buying behaviour, and/or lifestyle characteristics. Therefore the numbers of tourists who stay in farm stays are limited.

Although there is no fostering agreement on activities included in agro-tourism, three basic activities can be identified in agro-tourism activities. Accordingly, in agro-tourism practices, there is something to see, something to do and something to buy for visitors. 

ගොවිපල චාරිකා, ගොවිතැන් කටයුතුවලට සහභාගී වීම (තෝරා ගැනීම, කැපීම, එකතු කිරීම හෝ තනිවම වැඩීම), අශ්වයින් පැදීම, ගොවිපල සංචාර / ගොවිපල නිරූපණයන්, මසුන් ඇල්ලීම සඳහා ගබඩා කළ පොකුණු, වයින් රස බැලීම සහ ගවයන් පැදීම ඔබේ විවේකය භුක්ති විඳිය හැකි ජනප්‍රිය ගොවිපල ක්‍රියාකාරකම් වේ.පසුගිය ලිපි කිහිපයෙ සඳහන් වූ පරිදි මෙම ලිපියෙහි සඳහන් කරුණු වඩාත් රසවත් වේ යැයි සිතමු.

 ගොවිපල නවාතැන් යනු එක් රාත්‍රියකට වඩා වැඩි කාලයක් ගොවිපොළේ නවාතැන් ගෙන ගොවිතැන් පරිසරය හා ගොවි ජීවිතය අත්විඳින කෘෂි සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරයකි.  ගොවිපල පවුල සමඟ ඔවුන්ගේ ගොවිපොළේ වාසය කිරීම, වෙනම කබානා, ගස් ගෙවල්වල හෝ ගොවිපොළේ කඳවුරු බැඳීම වැනි විවිධ වර්ගයේ ගොවිපල නවාතැන් පහසුකම් තිබේ.  ෆාම් ඇඳ සහ උදේ ආහාරය යනු රාත්‍රී කාලයේ ඇඳක් සහ උදෑසන ආහාරය ඇතුළු ගොවිපලවල්වල විවිධ නවාතැන් පහසුකම් සඳහා “අද්විතීය යෙදුමකි”.  පිදුරු මත නිදාගැනීම, කඳවුරු බැඳීම, අාර් ඒන් හෝ බන්හවුස් වැනි නිශ්චිත කෘෂි සංචාරක ක්‍රම තිබේ.  කෙසේ වෙතත්, මෙම ගොවිපල නවාතැන් සේවා මහා පරිමාණයෙන් ලබා දිය නොහැක.

 ගොවිපලක රැඳී සිටින ස්ථානය සැබෑ ගොවිපලක් හෝ ගොවිපලක් වන අතර එය මෙහෙයවනු ලබන්නේ ගොවියෙකු සහ ගොවි පවුලක් විසිනි.  කෙසේ වෙතත්, වර්තමාන සංකල්පය තුළ ගොවිපල රැඳී සිටීම සැලසුම් කර ක්‍රියාත්මක කළ හැකි අතර සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරයේ ප්‍රධාන කාර්යය ලෙස ගොවිපල හා ගොවිපලවල මෙහෙයුම්කරුවන් වන්නේ සංචාරක ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ ව්‍යවසායකයින් ගොවි පවුලක් නොවේ.  කෙසේ වෙතත්, කෘෂි සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරයේ සියලුම අංග මෙම ආයතනය තුළ ඇති අතර සංචාරකයින්ට කෘෂි සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරයේ සැබෑ හැඟීම ලබා දීම සඳහා හොඳින් සැලසුම් කර සංවිධානය කර ඇත.

 කෙසේ වෙතත්, ගොවිපල නවාතැන් සඳහා නවාතැන් පමණක් ඇතුළත් නොවේ.  ගොවිපල ආහාර, ගොවිතැන් කටයුතු, ගොවිපලක ස්වභාවය, ගොවිපල අධ්‍යාපනය සහ ගොවිපල නවාතැන් සිහිවටනයක් ලෙස මිලදී ගැනීමට යමක් අත්විඳීම ඇතුළත් කිරීම අවශ්‍ය වේ.  සාම්ප්‍රදායික කුස්සියක දර භාවිතා කිරීමෙන් මැටි භාජනවල පිසින ලද ආහාර වැනි සාම්ප්‍රදායික ආහාර පිසීමේ ක්‍රම භාවිතා කරමින් ගොවි පවුල විසින් සකස් කරන ලද ගොවිපල ආහාර රස බැලීමට සංචාරකයින් කැමතියි.  සමහර සංචාරකයින් සාම්ප්‍රදායික ආකාරයෙන් තනිවම ආහාර පිසීමට කැමැත්තක් දක්වයි.  හිමිකරුට සාර්ථක ව්‍යාපාරයක් පවත්වාගෙන යාමට අවශ්‍ය නම් මෙම සියලු පහසුකම් ගොවිපලක තබා ගැනීම සුදුසුය.  සංචාරකයාගේ අවශ්‍යතා සහ අවශ්‍යතා සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් මෙම සේවාවන්හි වටිනාකම ඉහළ බැවින් මෙම සියලු පහසුකම් හොඳින් අය කෙරේ.  කෘෂි සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරය යනු විශාල වෙළඳපල තුළ සිටින ගනුදෙනුකරුවන්ගෙන් කුඩා කොටසක් සමාන ජන විකාශන, රුචිකත්වයන්, මිලදී ගැනීමේ හැසිරීම් සහ / හෝ ජීවන රටා ලක්ෂණ ඇති වෙළඳපොලක් බව අමතක නොකරන්න.  එබැවින් ගොවිපලවල රැඳී සිටින සංචාරකයින්ගේ සංඛ්‍යාව සීමිතය.

 කෘෂි සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරයට ඇතුළත් කර ඇති ක්‍රියාකාරකම් පිළිබඳ කිසිදු එකඟතා ගිවිසුමක් නොතිබුණද, කෘෂි සංචාරක ක්‍රියාකාරකම්වල මූලික ක්‍රියාකාරකම් තුනක් හඳුනාගත හැකිය.  ඒ අනුව, කෘෂි සංචාරක ක්‍රියාකාරකම් වලදී, දැකීමට යමක්, කළ යුතු දෙයක් සහ අමුත්තන් සඳහා මිලදී ගැනීමට යමක් තිබේ.
