Dining etiquettes or table manners say a lot about yourself. To strengthen one's personality, it's important to have a dining etiquette. Basic table manners are crucial since they enhance the comfort of both visitors and hosts at the meal. Using table manners demonstrates to the individuals you are eating with that you are courteous.

Do you know? Employers frequently add lunch or dinner as part of the selection process in an interview. They want to observe how you manage yourself in social situations, as well as if you have good manners. Many applicants lose sight of the fact that they are still being questioned throughout a meal, allowing their guard to fall and revealing information about themselves that may create a bad impression. It is critical to understand proper dining etiquette and to keep focused on your interview to represent yourself favorably.

People's self-esteem will be boosted by learning proper dining manners. Having simple table manners gives you a significant positive vibe. Dining etiquettes matter not only when having meals. They matter from the reception until finishing the meal.

Here are some simple tips that you can practice at dining.

  • ·      Be punctual - Arriving early allows you to adapt to the environment and it creates a positive attitude.
  • ·       * Being seated - Allow your host or hostess to lead you through the seating arrangements. Wait for your host/hostess to take a seat before you take your seat. Place nothing on the table, like sunglasses, a handbag, a cell phone, and so on.
  • ·       Time to introduce - Take an opportunity to welcome everyone who attends the meal. Shake hands, greet everyone, and introduce yourself.
  • ·       Keep your elbows off the table - Sit up straight and avoid leaning on the table. When eating, keep your elbows off the table and close to your body.
  • ·       Dining - It's preferable if everyone starts and finishes at the same time. To start dining, wait until everyone is seated. In case of an emergency, if you had to leave the table, excuse the others at the table.
  • ·       Ordering - When ordering at a public restaurant, follow the lead of your server. Do not order expensive meals as the host/hostess will pay for you. But, if you're in a private environment, you won't have to make any selections, as the food has been prepared for you.
  • ·       Passing food - Never take something from across the table. Always request that it would be passed.
  • ·       During having the meal - Make use of your napkin. You are expected to use cutlery rather than your fingers. Try to keep a decent table conversation just to break the monotony. But it should not be a long chat. Make sure to maintain good eye contact.
  • ·       After finishing the meal - In the completed position, place your fork and knife. (In a 9:00 to 3:00 pattern, set your knife and fork in the middle of your plate with fork tongs and knife blade to the left.) Don't move your plate; just leave it where it is.
  • ·       Thank you - At the end of the meal, don’t forget to always thank your host/hostess and let them know how much you enjoyed yourself.
