Dumbledore's Legacy Lives On
In a world where broomsticks soar through the skies, invisibility cloaks conceal secrets, and
spells bring paintings to life, there exists a world where magic wanders into our lives in the most
extraordinary ways. (And it all started when Hogwarts Express left King's Cross 9 3⁄4! )
As we mourn the loss of the talented actor who brought Professor Albus Dumbledore to life on
the silver screen, Michael Gambon, let us raise our wands and pens alike to toast a character,
an actor, and a series that will forever remain in our hearts. The readers of all generations will
continue to be entwined with the threads of Hogwarts, wands, and the boy who lived; a creation
of the magical world of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.
Michael Gambon infused Dumbledore with charisma and wisdom that indeed reflected the
pages of the books. (Well, apart from the time when he said, "Did you put your name into the
Goblet of Fire Harry"!) With his twinkling eyes under the half-moon glasses, flowing robes, and,
of course, his legendary beard, he portrayed the most amazing parts of Harry Potter, proving to
be the icon of kindness and wisdom throughout the series over dark magic.
Through seven books and eight films, we journeyed alongside Harry, Ron, Hermione, and
countless other memorable characters, discovering not only the secrets of the wizarding world
but also the timeless lessons that Dumbledore imparted. "Happiness can be found even in the
darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light," will surely continue to be a timeless
inspiration to all readers.
Today, we honor both the fictional character and the actor who portrayed him; Dumbledore, who
taught us the magic of love, loyalty, and the courage to stand up against darkness. (Let's
sincerely hope he got his "Thick Woollen Socks" at some point for Christmas in his life.)
Dumbledore once said, "Do not pity the dead, Harry."
Let us raise our wands for Michael Gambon! You will always be our Dumbledore!
